Hey all,

We've got a Polycom Viewstation FX that we're having a heck of a time with. It's connected to a Madge box and a T-1 modem. Each time we try to connect, we get a "Call could not be completed" message. I've had our telephone techs check out the T-1 and they have verified that the lines are provisioned correctly. I can't get into the Madge, so I have no idea what's going on with it, BTW, no error indications at all.

We've also physically bypassed the encryption unit and got the same results. We suspect that the Madge is the culprit, but how do we verify??

Tks all. :tired:

What model of madge is it? AS200? AS20?

It sounds like this is something you inherited that was set up before. Possibly the network T1 is terminating into the Madge and there are either BRI's or a PRI dropping to the Polycom. In any case, there was probably programming done in the Madge (small ISDN switch) with a dialing plan. Are you sure you are dialing properly? What do the entries in the address book of the Polycom have in them, any prefix digits? It certainly would be helpful to know which model Madge and what cards/interfaces are present. It could be the profile (configuration settings) have become corrupted and need to be restored/rebuilt. Are you able to receive calls from the outside into your Polycom?

We replaced the Madge completely, had the profile put into again, had to reset the modems several times and wouldn't you know it, Christmas miracle!! I haven't worked with Madges very much, but already don't care for them.....gimme' an Adtran 512.
