Hi guys,
Can someone help me with release notes of the latest SCOPIA firmware (v5.5). All i want to know about the change in port count with encryption and higher bandwidth. Is it still there...or have they improved it?

"1. New Features
SCOPIA Desktop is integrated with iVIEW Suite, including access to new virtual room feature from
the User interface Entry page.
SCOPIA Desktop works in conjunction with new SCOPIA MCU and MVP version 5.5.
The following features are added to the conference room:
Raise hand—When a moderator mutes a participant, the participant can request permission to
speak.
Chat—Enables participants to chat with other participants in the meeting both publicly and
privately.
Waiting room—Is a security feature. A participant entering a meeting, before a moderator joins
it, can chat or view a list of participants. No audio, video or presentation is sent until the
moderator joins the meeting and enters the moderator PIN.
Added the ability to disable Desktop Sharing as an administrative option.
The new Continuous Presence High Definition service available on SCOPIA MCU allows
SCOPIA Desktop and High Definition endpoints to participate in the same meeting.
Support for H.239 presentation with LifeSize endpoints running LifeSize software version 3.0.
The User and Administration interfaces are available in Portuguese."

Well, I did not find any clue about ports capacity affected by H.235; I think we can assume there is no change, as MCU 5.X claims 96 ports, and MCU 4.X supports 100 ports. With MVP 5.X, there is no reason for MCU 5.X being weak than MCU 4.X, and the MVP blade has still a great potential to be improved.

ABOUT H.235
ENCRYPTION FOR
H.323 CALLS
The encryption conforms to the H.235 standard and supports the following
encryption algorithms:
DES: with an encryption key of 56 bits
AES: with an encryption key of 128 bits
Encryption on the MCU can operate in one of the following modes:
Disabled—No encryption. The supported capability for this mode is
Priority 1: no encryption.
Best effort—This mode implements a “best effort” encryption
algorithm. If an endpoint supports encryption, it connects in an encrypted
way. If not, it connects without encryption. The supported capabilities
for this mode are:
Priority 1: AES 128
Priority 2: DES 56
Priority 3: No encryption
Encryption required—This mode only connects encrypted calls.
Encryption is either AES 128 or DES 56. Non-encrypted calls are not
allowed to connect. The supported capabilities for this mode are:
Priority 1: AES 128
Priority 2: DES 56
Strong encryption required—This mode only allows AES 128
encrypted calls. Endpoints that do not support AES 128 are not allowed
to connect. The supported capability for this mode is Priority 1: AES 128.
The following channels support encryption:
Audio channel
Video channel
Far End Camera Control (FECC)
Note All channels (audio, video, FECC, incoming, and outgoing) on the same
call must have the same encryption levels. If the encryption on all channels cannot
be achieved, the call disconnects.

thnks once again outlooker....my only concern was that, in earlier versions of MCU, the datasheets mentioned loss in port capacity with encrypted calls above 768K. this has not been mentioned in the latest datasheets.
was trying to understand what change occurred..was it only the firmware ..or the hardware itself is upgraded with new DSP chips for better processing?
it would be great if could you please help me with the user guide for ver. 5.5
Many thanks.

or the hardware itself is upgraded with new DSP chips for better processing?
Looking at the caps set for 5.5, I do not think this is the case.
As far as I know, the limitation above 768kbps dropping the port count is still there.
