Our organization is basically split in two right now. Half of the desktop units are Tandberg 1000 for Call Manager (SCCP) and the other half are standard Tandberg H.323 units. Then of course I have my MGC-100 bridge.

People are starting to get quite irritated that they are unable to dial their couterparts overseas, next door, etc due to the mismatch.

My question ... Is there any configuration of equipment that will allow a SCCP endpoint registered to the CCM to dial out and connect to an unrelated H.323 unit on the otherside of the world (same IP network of course)?

We have no gatekeeper, and I understand that if I install one, I will be able to have SCCP endpoints dial H.323 endpoints that are registered with the gatekeeper (that is trunked to the CCM).. But I'm worried about the all the H.323 units out there that are not registered to any gatekeeper.. just an IP address in space.

Is this possible?

The further I dig, the darker it gets..

You can use the Codian IPGW which can provide an IVR which the SCCP endpoint can call from. Dial into the IPGW and use DTMF to dial the IP address of the non-registered site. The Codian team has this working internally and they use it to do exactly what you are looking to do.

You can get some information here http://www.codian.com/support/viewfaqentry.php?id=36&topic=&product=
