Greetings--

Any MGC 50/100 users seen their Internet-facing NIC cards get crashed ?

We have been experiencing this recently. I havent been able to locate any information on the Net about it, so thought I'd pose the question here.

Got any Tandberg MXP units dialing in with RCDO on?

Nope--no Tanberg (or any other units) connecting. This usually happens after hours, within 10-15 minutes on both the 100 and the 50 systems.

For the record, that particular issue is an Accord issue and they have a patch for it if anyone is experiencing that issue.

Are you referring to the IP/H.323 cards for video or the LAN NIC card for administration?

LAN card(s) are the ones that crash- not the managment NICS

Are you able to download the logger files encompassing the issue? They may give some clues. What about a sniffer capturing the traffic at the time of the issue? Have you sent the IP Card diagnostic and logger files to Polycom support?

Seen this a few times. If a public-facing LAN card gets ping-bombed hard enough, it will disable itself. Generally a reset of the card will bring it back to life. Generally I recommend putting the IP address into another IP card (or some other device) as a test to see if you're on a bot list somewhere getting DoS hits. If the problem follows the IP, put a sniffer up to determine the source of the attack, and fight back.

Hi,
It is probably useless to fight back, since the attacking PC's (bots) are thousands of home PC's remotely controlled by pirats. Better check your firewall ?

Hi,
The best thing for you to do is put a call into Polycom Global
Services at 1-800-POLYCOM and get support.

If I was to ask one quesiton about your problem, I would ask if the interfaces that are failing are internet accessible? and if those interfaces are being proteced by some sort of firewall like the Polycom V2IU. I have seen many situations similiar to this.

PGS can analyze your situation and give you help.

Thanks,
Jeff
