I currently manage two suites and have a ADTRAN ISU 512 S/T in one and a U model in the other. The S/T is used with a Tandberg MXP while the U works with a Tandberg Classic 6000. Niether suite uses a "Y" cable. I need to know if the pair of cables in the S/T suite has similar pinouts to the pair in suite with the U model?

TANDBERG only makes products that are compatible with the S/T interface. If you have a U interface, there must be a NT1 somewhere converting the U interface to the S/T that the TANDBERG requires.
The S/T and U interfaces are completely different and not compatible electrically, with protocols or with pin outs.

Sean,
Thanks for the info. That makes sense because when I go unsecure I need three NT1 boxes in line for the codec to work. My frustration is trying to get the secure side running without the NT1 boxes. I can light up all seven LED's on the 512, but in doing so I knock my crypto off-line.

On the serial side, it would be the same cable for either the MXP or Classic codecs.

wordelp,
How do you have your suites cabled up on the network side? I am confused about your secure setup since you said you do not use a "Y" cable for either suite. I am assuming one suite is dedicated for non-secure and the other dedicated for secure.

When the Air Force did away with the Data Visual responsibility for their blue suiters I, as a contractor, assumed all duties to include maintaining our two VTC suites. Due to [their] current comfiguration and because I'm very new, it has been very frustrating. Since taking over I've always known to dial twice when making calls. I know I can correct this with a "Y" cable, but that's secondary to what the real issue is. Each suite uses only two cables and they are connected exactly the same on both suites. One suite operates perfectly in both unclass and secure. The other, only unclass is functional. I'm running two RS449 cables from my KIV-7, one feeds the IMUX and the other the NET1 port of the Tandberg. For an unclass conference I use the NT1 boxes. I know I'm stuck with the NT1 boxes because of the codec I'm using.

Can someone please help me to make an ADTRAN ISU 512 "U" model IMUX work with a TANDBERG 6000 Classic using NT1 boxes? I cannot get my three "READY" indicators on the 512's front panel, and I'm not sure if it's a pin out or configuration issue. Thanks,
Pete

Both will work with both Tandberg. The U interface plugs directly ino the ISDN lines from your telco with no NT1s (The NT1 is internal). The S/T interface will require NT1s. The exception to this is if your telco (PBX) provides an S/T interface directly. Are you using NT1s with your S/T interface ISU 512. If so the U interface Adtran will not work.
