Hi Guys,

I am using MGC Manager 8.0 and I would like to create a user account which the MCU Configuration option not available for viewing or disabled(grayed-out) for some users. Is this possible? Is there a way I can obtain this, how? Will appreciate any feedback. Thank you.

We've asked about Polycom about this in the past. You'll have to submit a feature request.

Hi Joe,

Many thanks for your response. Do you know how can I contact polycom thru email for this request, I tried navigating their site but can't find any. Thanks again.

The path on the Polycom web site is: www.polycom.com->support->support ticket->register for account->OPEN (ticket). Or you could call 800-POLYCOM or +1 408-526-9000. You may need an active maintenance contract to get support.

Not totally sure what you're talking about regarding non-support here. This has been available for a long time - create an 'Attendant' level operator. From the Admin Guide:

"Attendant operators can only define and manage new conferences, gateway sessions, meeting rooms, and participants. The Attendant operator does not have access to the MCU Configuration icon and MCU Utilities."

You're right. The 'attendant' operator restricts access to configuration and almost everything else (CDR's, Faults log, Resource Report, ...). We've NEVER used this because we needed access to the other options. The problem is it is ALL or NOTHING (Not much)......but that may be what you need.....

Excellent guys! It works perfectly, that's exactly what we need. I tried creating the 'attendant' operator and it's fantastic..Many thanks!

Guys,

I need your immediate attention regarding this, is it right that when i create an attendant account, this will disable the ivr service? when we are using ordinary account and superuser, the ivr service is enabled. I tried reading the MGC Admin Manual but can't find any details regarding this. Thanks for any comments.

Well, I just created an 'attendant' user and logged into an MGC. When creating a 'new conference' I can select the Message Service Type but the drop-down box of Message Service Name is not populated with the IVR services we have defined. It appears to be a bug in my opinion, assuming the 'attendant' is allowed to create conferences. To go further, I completed my conference definition and it was started on the bridge with the default 'Message Service'. When I dialed into my conference, I was prompted to enter my conference password as is defined in our default message service.

The IVR services are not disabled, you are forced to use the default.

Is there any other way i can set my defined IVR services as default? Say editing the system.cfg....'cause even when I tried setting my defined IVR service as default, it still goes to MGC's default.

Not sure what you are referring to when you say 'set my defined IVR service as default'. There is only one default IVR service PER MGC, it is not PER USER.

You can create your own IVR Service and can set it as default. Just right click the IVR service you created and click default.

Yes, as a superuser you can create different IVR services or Entry Queue Services and choose which one is the default for the MGC. That one is the one that gets chosen when an 'attendant' user creates an IVR conference. It sounds like you need to talk to your Polycom support.

Hi Joe,

Have you tried doing that one? Based on my experienced, even when i logged in as a superuser and set my created IVR Service as default then logged in to as attendant, it still goes back to MGC's default. Is there something wrong with my MGC or is it really a bug as you were mentioning yesterday?

That's exactly what I did. Logged in as superuser, chose an alternative IVR service as the default (becomes the MGC default), logged out and back in as an attendant, created a conference and the new default service I selected was used for the conference. What MGC software version and MGR version are you using? I'm using v8.0 for both.

I am also using version 8.0 for both.

The 'attendant' does not have access to list the IVRs in the drop down, however other IVRs (non-default) can be used by typing in the name of the IVR (case sensitive).
