General question. There is no mgmt port on the new RMX. I was thinking about putting a v2iu in front of it and then hope that i can just use OSPF to route to it. I would just add specific IP's for mgmt then. Is this even possible? Also, will I be able to leave the SE200 on the network side, hope so?

You manage it by its inbuilt webserver. It's not like the MGC, there is no specific management module. How you route to it is your business, OSPF means nothing unless that's the routing protocol for the rest of your network.

If you want scheduling and configuration backup though, you'll need the SE200.

To be honest, your question is a bit confusing.... :D

Ya I guess it is confusing, sorry. Ya we are using ospf for that part of the network and you're right it does not matter how we route. It would be nice if a v2iu can use ospf though.

I guess what i was wondering more than anything is if the SE200 can be on one side of the v2iu and the RMX on the other? Will all the scheduling, gatekeeper, and backup stuff pass through a v2iu?

Ah, now I understand.

It should be fine.

I'm assuming you have a centralised SE200 that will live on the 'outside' of the V2IU, and the RMX will be on the inside for this, so providing you forward the appropriate ports on the V2IU to the RMX this should work. I believe that its HTTP and SNMP that the SE200 uses at the moment to control and manage the RMX, but I'll check and confirm the ports on here later once I've dug them out, unless anyone beats me to it in the meantime.

Curious if you have noticed any issues with version 2.0.

The V2IU supports (if memory serves me correctly) IS-IS and OSPF, if your network is sending OSPF messages to the V2IU you should be good to put anything you like behind it.

I have worked with many versions of software for the SE200. The latest version of software for the SE200 is more stable and functional than the previous. However there are a few issues I have discovered with the product, none of these effect the overall service and functions of the platform in such a way that I would choose not to recommend this Gatekeeper/Management platform.

IMHO, I think the SE200 is a good product and far better than anything else Polycom have released in the past that claimed to provide similar (ish!) functionality.

We have not integrated thte RMX with the SE200 yet. The RMX works fine on it's own so far. No problems with version 2, although i've never used the previous version to compare. We will be integrating it with the se200 soon and making a plan to cut things over to it as gatekeeper as well. Although we may go with PathNav, still not sure.
