I cannot figure out how to dial an external ip address with an extension.

Dialing with: Tandberg 1000MXP (E5.3 NTSC)
Dialing to: Polycom outside my local lan
Note: They can call me and make the connection just fine.

I've tried every combination I can think of witn no luck. Anyone have a solution? Here are the combinations I've tried:

192.168.1.1##10000
192.168.1.1#10000
192.168.1.1,,10000
192.168.1.1,10000
192.168.1.1@10000
192.168.1.1@@10000
192.168.1.1*10000

Hi,

I don't believe Tandberg units can dial in this manner. In addition, if it's indeed an MXP unit, then the software version your showing above is incorrect. 'E' software is for Tandberg Classic units while 'F' software is for MXPs. Again, I believe for both Tandberg Classics and Tandberg MXPs, they cannot dial in the manners that your showing.

I'm afraid that is what I'm going to find out about the Tandberg's we have... too old to dial an ip/extension. At least I can accept a call from a unit with an extension.

The 1000's I have are running E5.3 and the 3000's and 770's are running F5.3.

Hi,

See the thread link below (in particular Sean's comments - I think this verifies my comment above):

You can check out this link as well where it discusses URI dialing and having a GK in the plan. GKs/BCs surely simplify your life when it comes to your video network:

Unfortunately budget and tax levy limits don't allow me to spend the $$ for a gateway when I can utilize a gateway service at a much reduced price. It sure would be nice to dial directly rather than schedule the gateway service, etc. I have a call in to my service provider who has a call placed with Tandberg so I should get an official answer soon.

Wouldn't you know, the first request for this type of a conference address with an ip address/extension is for an initial court appearance by a high profile suspect being charged with a triple homicide. :hurt: All the press will be present and I want to make sure all the equipment works without a hitch.

Yup...it's always about money sometimes :) However, I'm afraid your probably going to get the same answer from Tandberg concerning this matter, i.e. can't do it. Obviously, it would be nice if all the hw was the same but unfortunately it's not in your case...but as you said in your initial thread, they can dial you successfully.

Don't you get prompted to enter the extension? Can you enter it using DTMF tones?

I usally dial 10000@192.168.1.1 with our TANDBERGs! This worls with Classic with fairly new SW, and most of the MXP SW.
