Hello All
Just wondering what you guys are using for bridging capabilties???
I work for a large I.T. company and all are services are 3rd party venders.
We are looking to do all voice, and video on-site and looking to find options.
Video will include H.323 and H.320 calls,I have used Polycom MGU units, but would like to see what else is out there and how they work.
Thanks for any replys.

I'm rather fond of the MSE 8000 and the Codian 4500. I guess the question is how much port count do you need and is HD a large concern of yours going forward.

MGC is getting a little long in the tooth IMHO, Radvision port counts are totally misleading and difficult to understand. The new Polycom bridge does not support H.261 so conferencing with older systems may not work. IMHO ALL Codian MCU's are best of breed products, easy to use and good value for money. I have worked in video conferencing for a very long time and if I were in the market for an MCU I would look no further than either the Codian 4500 or MSE8000 (dependant on capacity requirements).

Hi,
Which MCU to pick is probably going to be based on your business requirements. Please, do not pick a MCU just based point features. You have to go to use, the vendors, with your BUSINESS requirements and then we can look at the products we sell and assemble them into a solution.
Too often, people look at this as picking a "box" when you really need to look at this like a solution.
Being who I work for...I favor Polycom. But, I believe that with both the MGC and RMX combined with several other products and services we have, we can put together a solution that will help you.
The solution could entail either a MGC or an RMX. Oddly enough... and against what you'll read in forum posts... we still sell lots of MGCs. Even though that product was initially designed years ago. In fact, there are customers that are choosing MGC over Codian just about every day. The RMX is probably chosen more often, but the MGC still can be the best mcu in many solutions.
Best thing to do is contact the vendors and go through this exercise. If you want the Polycom account team name for you account, please email me and I'll get you in touch with them.
Thanks,

Agreed! Furthermore - don't just look at the datasheets and competitive docs that us Manufacturers will give you. Actually try the products. If at all possible in your own environment.
It is all too easy for manufacturers to talk about things like ease of use, reliability and quality - but you need to really experience them to see which products are better for you.
If you want to have a quick play with the TANDBERG Codian MCUs we have them available on the internet for you to try. Take a look here:

If you want a full demo and further information feel free to drop me a PM and I will put you in touch with the appropriate person.
Take Care!
Kevin
