Hello,

I work for a group of companies with offices in Belgium, Slovakia and China. In our office in China we are having problems with our Polycom VSX-5000 calling over ISDN.

The system is connected wit 3x 128K ISDN lines, system status shows lines are up, incoming connections are OK. However, as far as I was able to tell calling to certain countries is NOT possible. We are not able to make a connection to our office in Belgium which is critical for our office in China due to remote support. Other countries not possible include France and the UK. Countries which do seem to work: China, Germany, The Netherlands, Singapore, US ... We have talked to our provider CNC however the only thing they are able to tell us is the lines are good and there are no restrictions whatsoever.(the only thing they will do to test the lines is connect an ISDN telephone to it and make a phonecall!)

ISDN lines seem to be connected in the right order, software settings are identical to our office in Belgium, yet when we call our office in Belgium the call will just timeout.

We are running out of ideas here, we have also been in contact with Polycom however there seems to be nothing wrong with the system nor the hardware.

Anyone who can shed some light or has had similar problems in China?

Best Regards,

Bart,

to my opinion you should try to set off the AES encryption in the security settings. This worked for me anyway.

You need to press your local service provider to trap/trace your failed calls and have them confirm to whom they are handing the call off to. Then a case needs to be open with that carrier to trap/trace the failed calls. You need to isolate whether it is a network issue (and where) or endpoint compatibility/configuration issue.
