View Full Version : Tandberg MXP's with Crestron control issues

This is in reference to using Crestron's MXP macros to serially control Tandberg's MXP series CODECs.

Requesting/Sorting directory seems to take quite a long time (1 minute? Maybe more...) , during which time using other functions of the macro can lock-up the processor (2-Series, latest firmware). I've been getting around this the cheap-way; by locking-out the macro/video conference functions if/when the directory is being requested or sorted. To increase the stability even more, I've had to set pacing to 5ms on the individual com port.
Again, this just pertains to RS232 control. I can't say for sure if this occurs via TCP/IP.

This is not an issue we've had with Polycom's VSX or even HDX units, but it occurs with any MXP. We can live with it, but it is an annoyance.

Any ideas? Suggestions?

Thanks!

Personally I have never had that issue. I've never had a sort take more than about 5 seconds or so.

By looking at the feedback from the module, the sorting process does only take a few seconds; it is the Requestingthat seems to take a while.

What seems to be happening is that it polls each and every entry slot on the directory, regardless of whether or not there is an address saved. So, although there are a half dozen names in the directory, it polls all 199 places.

I'd like to say it's coincidence, or bad-luck, but this has happened on every MXP system which we have integrated. Maybe it's just something we will (our customers, more so) have to live with.
