We are seriously considering a migration from an MGC100 to the RMX2000. I'm looking for opinons, good or bad about the RMX2000. We are just starting to get into HD systems and have had the MGC100 for about 6 years now. Is the RMX2000 stable. Are there any issues with cascading my old MGC100 with it?

I currently operate an old MGC 100 running version 6. I have not upgraded software on it in a long time due to some of the hardware having serial numbers below 10. We recently purchased a 80 port RMX2000 with the SE200. Remember the RMX2000 is really designed to be an Ad Hoc mcu. I look at it as a compliment to the MGC. I am currently only running version 1.1 on the RMX2000 (will upgrade this summer to 2.0) and have successfully connected it to our MGC 100. However I can't operate our MGC with the SE200 due to the version of software on our MGC. Ultimately upgrading to a new MCU depends on your needs. If the RMX fits those needs better than Codian is up to you.

We Are using Tandberg MXP-990, 6000, MPS 200 with TMS.

We are now looking for more equipment that will specifically use for Education sector on IP.

Like
Tandberg Edge 95, Codian 45xx, MSE 8000, Content Server etc
Polycom HDX series, MGC 100, RSS etc.
Some Aethra models too

I need your suggestion specially for those who are using both platforms to specify the main points for selection the MCU, CODECS, Streaming servers that will make me easier to select the equipment among theses vendors.

What is the basic diff and better b/w RMX 2000 or MGC+100 series.

send me your comments to <noman@iamgood.in> or post here..

We upgraded to the RMX2000 and SE200. I have had nothing but a rough time with the SE200. The RMX2000 works fairly well. I have not had any major issues. I just updated the SE200 to version 3.0.1 and it has been a nightmare.

I would strongly suggest checking your options for a scheduling device before going with the RMX2000. Since the RMX2000 only does ad-hoc as osuets said it cannot be used stand alone. While the new version of the SE200 looks nice the functionality is very questionable and very unstable. It all depends on your needs and patience.

Polycom's support is rough on the SE200. I know you asked about the RMX2000 but I am just trying to stress the consideration of other products. My healthcare institution is considering moving away from Polycom because of the issues we have had and lack of knowledgeable tech support.

We tried to upgrade to a RMX 2000. The only issue is that if you have older endpoints such as a VS4000 and want to do legacy P+C with let's say a Visual Concert FX, the RMX 2000 will not work.

Mr. French, (you are probably not old enough to remember Family Affair) but I couldnt resist-

Any way, our company has done some extenisve testing and actually utilize both in production. Drop my a line off list and we would be happy to discuss.

We have a Video Scheduling and Video Network Management Package that works with the RMX2000 MCU. We are deployed in many large scale state networks as well as numerous regional networks. For more information please visit our website or contact me.
