hello - is anyone familiar with pulling worth while logs from a VSX7000 or VSX8000? I am familiar with the process via the GUI, part is there anything worthwhile via telnet or FTP?

Absolutely! Pulling the logs via telnet is the best way IMO to diagnose exactly what your VSX systems are doing.
