My company will be upgrading its videoconferencing network infrastructure. The two MCU options being considered are the Tandberg MPS 800 and the Codian MSE 8000. Any thoughts or comments regarding these two units will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill

Currently we are mostly doing H.323 video, with an occasional H.320 connection. SIP and HD are not really important at this time, but in the next two to three years I expect they will be. We are planning on 80 video ports and 80 voice ports. We currently have 2 PRIs and will be increasing that to 4.

The TANDBERG Codian MSE8000 is an H.323 box today that allows for H.320 gateway blades to be added. The MPS supports both H.323 and H.320 natively (with ISDN cards). The difference would be your audio requirements. I think the MSE8000 will be better suited to support your audio capacity needs at 80 ports.

If these are you only requirements, I would suggest the MSE8000. The MSE8000 is also getting HD blades in the future, if and when you move that direction.
