Hello,
I was wondering if there was a possibility to set up a system that would:
-record HD-quality video and audio content and store it for later use
-simultaniously stream it on the web server (so it be accessible to around 300-500 end users thru the webpage)
and all that for under $20,000? -> I am just graduating from College (east europe) and was hopping I could start up microcompany providing such a services.

I was taking closer look at polycom HDX 9004 plus polycom Rss2000 plus external HD Camera but that alone would cost around $32K (I could leverage myself witch a credit, but I would rather not do that, at least not at the beginning) so I was wandering if You could advise me with some better/cheaper solution so I could get "best bang for the money" :)

Thank you for all your help

Hello,
There is no reason to use HDX 900x series codec
A lil` bit cheaper solution is using HDX7002(10k) + Codian IP VCR (13-15k)

I dont think that there is currently a solution in the professional vc market that records HD from HD videoconference. As far as I know - all solutions record SD and not HD.

Generally the Tandberg Codian IPVCR is a great recording&streaming appliance. The IPVCR can also stream the recorded content into to the web.

Tandbergs Content Server is also a good choice - has a 'youtube'-like interface and delivers streams in different codecs/sizes.

I would recommend a Tandberg Edge unit and a MediaPOINTE DMR210e. Should be around 20k and can handle the capabilities you are looking for.

Both the TCS and IPVCR can record HD.

Sean, Any capacity reduction with IPVCR in HD record mode from SD record mode like PLCM solution?

Do you mean in terms of storage on the hard drive?
