Has anyone else run into issues connecting between 6000 MXPs and the old classic 6000 systems? We do a significant amount of distance education classes, and one of our partner universities hasn't upgraded yet to the newer codecs.

They have B and E software rev Classics, and originally we couldn't connect with the B at all (with them dialing out) and they swapped the E rev into that classroom for use. Recently, we've been having issues again. The logs say normal call clearing, but when they dial out, it's not even reaching our codec. Neither system on either side is behind a firewall, so we're trying to troubleshoot this with the logs before we go to support.

But has anyone else run into a similar issue connecting between codecs? I figured I'd throw it out here in case anyone has had a similar experience.

Thanks!

Elaine

It doesn't sound like a codec issue. First the call has to connect for the codec to have an interop failure :)

Is this on IP? If so, can you take a syslog (telnet to codec, type syslog on, capture the text through a terminal program, and launch call). Send me the log and I will take a quick look.

Hi Sean,

Yes, all calls over IP. I can send the logs to you. Thanks!

Check the H323 stacks between B and E series, regardless of FireWall not in the loop you still have routing within WAN that can effect connectivity with seperate stack compliance

That's not going to be the problem.

We think we tracked it down to the Classic system coming out of sleep mode and not being able to dial out. If the techs wait a bit before dialing, there's no problem dialing out.

Very odd stuff.

Try this. Call the classic system. Hang up the call and then call the classic system back. You wont connect. YOu have to wait about 5 to 10 seconds before the connection can be made. This may be the same thing you are seeing.

Hi Elaine,

Can you tell me what version of software on the Classic? I would like to do some investigation here.
