View Full Version : TMS 11.9.1: DatabaseException

Having problems creating conferences in TMS now that it is upgraded to 11.9.1 from 11.7.x. Get the error message "Exception of type Tandberg.TMS.Framework.Db.DatabaseException was thrown."
After talking with Tandberg TAC, we upgraded from the free MSDE db to SQL 2005 Express but still getting the same error message. Looking at the problem, we thought it was a permission problem trying to edit the SQL db but we are able to end and reject conferences under the BOOKINGS -> List Conferences tab. Doing this essentially changes the SQL db for that conference.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this issue?
Thanks
George
Hi,
I think I would stick with talking with Tandberg TAC concerning this issue since this is the latest and greatest version of TMS and Tandberg is most likely very interested in issues regarding errors like this one. Is this the USA, EMEA or APAC TAC your dealing with?

It is USA TAC. We are currently waiting a call back from them so tried to roll back to 11.7.x but that is giving us all kind of errors.

Does anyone else think Tandberg TAC is kinda hopeless?
Some months ago we had errors coming up in our TMS appliance, Tandbergs suggestion was to re-install IIS as this 'might' fix it!
WTF this is a production system! Tell me the answer!

TMS 11.8 had some bugs that sometimes made the IIS crash and had to be restarted.
Have you upgraded to 11.9.1 ?

Hi Robert,
11.6 actually :)
Havn't made the upgrade yet...it has behaved itself the past 5 months...

You don't say how you 'rolled back to v11.7.x' but I assume you had a backup of the v11.7.x db? BTW, is it v11.7 you had installed or v11.7.1?

You don't say what sw version the TMS Appliance was or what the exact problem was so it makes it difficult to give you an answer. Since you mention Tandberg TAC suggesting to reinstall IIS, then this prompted RobertK's assumption it was v11.8. However, without more specific details...like logs, etc...then only guesses can be made. I assume you provided the appropriate info like TMS logs, etc to the Tandberg TAC? And again, is this USA or EMEA TAC?

Is this TMS Appliance v11.6 been upgraded with Sp2 on the OS? If not, and if its still at Window Server 2003 Sp1, then suggest installing Sp2 to it and then apply the latest and greatest TSA Security Updates, 2008-4. See the Tandberg FTP site for details on how to upgrade the appliance to Sp2 as well as retreiving the latest security updates for the appliance.

Without a better understanding of the incident you are speaking about I cannot comment on our ability to help you out. However, did you escalate within the TAC department with your issue since you didn't get the answer you needed? If you need help with escalation, by all means send me an email and I will personally make sure you are getting the service you need.
Happy days...

Yes it has sp2 and security updates applied.
Asia Pacific TAC, yes logs were provided hence why I said it was an IIS fault (from the logs).

Hi Sean,
Were u at the Sydney Tandberg Summit a few weeks ago?
No the issue wasnt esalated due to my own fault in not following it through, this was around 6 months or so ago. But thanks for future reference.

Well, got to Tandberg TAC, level 3 support and a TMS guru found a problem with our "stored procedures" in our newly upgraded SQL 2005 database. It seems as if the "legend" is missing all together and TMS request to the db are getting thrown out because of this.
Luckily, my counterparts made a backup of the MSDE db before upgrading and we are in the mist of building a brand spanking new TMS server and will import the MSDE db into the SQL 2005, as Tandberg noted this "should" work.
I am confident that this will fix the issue and they did send an Product Engineer our way to pick up on our issue. This conforts us a little but we are going on day four or no TMS.
I never appreciated TMS before but now that I am manually starting and stoping MCU and point-to-point conferences all day, you bet I will not yell at my screen anymore. :embarrass

This is what makes this sort of product tough to support at times. It integrates with so many things, the issues that arise can be any number of things relating to the server, antivirus, IIS, SQL and company policies to name a few. I know it gets frustrating at times, but be patient and we will do our best to sort you out.
Glad to hear you are moving forward now with a solution.
