HI

I have been trying to make encrypted calls using Polycom VSX 5000 and 7000 units with one of my customers. Customer is using Gatekeeper at his end and they have Tandberg systems in place. When I enable AES encryption on Polycom, calls are not going through, but when AES is disabled on both ends, calls are through.

I tried AES encrypted calls on between Polycoms which are connected to my Local network . IN this case calls are through but in calls statistics, it shows encryption is off. Moreover when I place call, the lock on the screen is showing open which means the calls are still encrypted.

Polycom VSX 5000 has software version 8.7 and 8.5.
VSX 7000 has 7.6.

Please guide me to troubleshhot this issue.

When I enable AES encryption on Polycom, calls are not going through, but when AES is disabled on both ends, calls are through.

Is there a firewall between the systems? The AES capability is sent in the call setup message for IP calls. If the firewall is H.323 aware, it will probably not understand this message and prevent the call setup message from actually going through. Many H.323 firewalls are behind the times and do not understand the latest features of video.

On H.320, the AES cap is sent after the call connects. Just FYI.

I was suspecting the same issue. To check the same, I tried in Local network but the results were same. Calls in local network are also showing un-encrypted even though the encryption is turned on.

Have you tried unregistering the endpoints from the gatekeeper and making the calls?

What gatekeeper and software revision?

Also software revisions of the endpoints too please.
