Does anybody know what is H.331 about? When it is enabled, any issues so caused when incoming ISDN calls received?

You would (probably)never use H.331. It's used as a BROADCAST-only mode for video.

Search this forum and you will find some more explanation about it.

I wonder when TANDBERG will hide that option so people doesn't change it by mistake! Or atleast give a warning when enabling it that it is probably not a safe thing to do :)

Tks very much. In fact, we encountered a problem as below:

I use our TANDBERG MCU to connect to a TANDBERG endpoint MXP sw ver. F6, we received a very poor video quality where the ISDN connectio is in good & stable. Is this a issue related to H.331 enabled?

Yes, that might be the case... H331 SHOULD be disabled for almost all circumstanses. I never heard anyone actually using it.

Robert,

I've used/seen H.331 from a Scotty on a 64k INMARSAT pipe. Great for one-way VTC when you don't know what folks are using on the other end but you have traffic that needs to passed.

flo,

what other type of endpoint was there in the call and who had H.331 enabled?

Unless you plan on sending video one way, you do not need this feature. I agree it is VERY rare in the industry. Some uses I have seen in the past include satellite and one to many through a digital cross connect switch (Tellabs DCS for example).

Basically, if you don't know what it is, you don't need it.

Or atleast give a warning when enabling it that it is probably not a safe thing to do...
In F7, there will be a warning if you try to turn it on.

Hi there, we resolved the problem when the participant disabled the H.331 setting at their TANDBERG machine. There will be a big video probelm when you receiving incoming call if you H.331 is enabled at your VC machine.
