I get an "External Network not Active" error when going from non-secure to secure mode (when changing the BRI setting to external in Network settings). Non-secure calls are good, so I believe the problem is a IMUX or KIV setting, as the two cables tested good.
I'm usuing a Tandberg 6000 MXP, Adtran 512 IMUX and a KIV-7HS. I do not have a switch box or a Y-cable configuration and always dial from the IMUX.
Thanks,
Pete

Are you using 3 or 6 BRI lines? I've come across sites that have 3 BRIs plugged into the codec for non-secure, then a NET port cable to the IMUX with an additional 3 BRIs (don't ask). Are your secure calls [I]not[I] working when you get the network message?

wordelp,

Reference the trouble shooting procedures and Adtran settings on this post. Disregard the 366 portion if you do not have a dial isolator and dial from the IMUX.

The main question I have is why would you move and reconfigure the BRI lines when switching between secure and non-secure? Why not just take the RED/BLACK cables off the crypto and mate them together in order to bypass the KIV and go non-secure? This enables you to switch classification without reconfiguring anything. Even better, get yourself an approved switching solution so you don't need to touch any cables or configurations.

The configuration of both my studios are as follows: 3-BRI lines into the CODEC (non-secure calls) or 3-BRI lines into the IMUX (secure calls). The BRI lines are the only physical move I make when going from one class to the other. I have a RS-530 cable going from my IMUX to my KIV-7. The only other cable goes from the NET port of the CODEC to the KIV-7. The current configuration was handed to me when the Air Force did away with their VTC techs at my location.

Are you using KIV RED/BLACK cables to convert the 530 cables from the IMUX and codec to the KIV pinouts?

Yes, my red cable connects the CODEC and KIV, while the black connects the IMUX and KIV. I'm not thoroughly convinced that the pinouts are correct. Does anyone have the pinouts I require?

Pinouts are available in the KIV manual.
