I was wondering if anyone can shed any light on my problem.

Hi I have a Sony PCS 1600 at one end of a broadband connection and a Polycom 16XX at the other. Both end have netgear routers and I have opened up the relevant ports (or so I think). The VC units have been configured as the DMZ server.

Now when the Sony unit calls the polycom unit, I get video - but no audio, however the polycom unit receives both audio and video.

Calling the polycom and Codian test numbers I get both audio and video from the Sony. I am just getting confused why I dont receive Audio. I dont think its a problem with the Sony unit as I have tried a plycom unit and again I get no Audio. I have a standard Netgear DG834 router which I am suspecting as the problem.

Any help is apreciated.

Best Rgds

What are the audio codec settings on the Sony? Try to force G722. If I remember that correctly (it's an obsolete EP), this particular system has some problems while in Auto mode.

Have you tried putting the systems on the same network segment and see if they can talk to each other? This will help in deciding if the problem is the network ofr the endpoints.

You might try calling vtctest.com (71.14.2.158) from both systems and see if you get both audio and video.

It sounds like a typical incoming port not getting opened.

If 71.14.2.158 is busy you might try 71.14.2.154 which is a loopback service. Be sure and go to the 71.14.2.154 webpage while you are in the call (and just after) for statistics about your call that may help you diagnose your problem.
