We have a 3 Madge 60's and are having connection issues. The hardware is turning on ok and after a self check cycles properly from what we can tell. I can access it via the LMC port via hyperterminal so communication is possible.
The problem is after installing Accessware and link up the keys to it (which goes fine) I am unable to communicate within Accessware (version R17 I believe) It says connected local, but on the NMC screen I am getting Link Down - Init and can not upload a profile or anything.
What am I missing?

Is it in a 'reset for Softload' state?

There is nothing I did to put it in that state so I would not think so.
Can you tell me how to determine if it is IN that state 'reset for Softload'"?

All the cards would have all lights on.

Nope. The cards light up on power up then all go off and only the test light flashes on the the OBIU boards. Which is proper operation.
Someone mentioned that since these units have been powered down for a long period of time that the onboard battery may have died out and caused the serial number which is on the onboard ram chip may have been reset and causing no connection. Anyone ever hear of this?

When you access one of them using hyperterminal are you able to get the UTILITY:1> prompt? From there you 'might' be able to do a 'snr' command which is 'serial number read'. There also is a 'snw' serial number write command. This is from some 1999 notes where we lost the serial number of an INP board and were recovering it.
When you defined your equipment in your NMC application, did you define CONNECTION TYPE: LOCAL and CONFIGURATION METHOD: MULTISLOT - DISKLESS? Did you enter the correct serial number for the INP board that you were connected to?

I am sure the Connection type is local. And sure the serial number matches since we called up Intitia and got key disk for this unit and they serial numbers match after it reads keys off floppy disk.
Not sure about Config Method. Would have to look.
