VSX 7000s operational problem

we are unable to operate a new installed vsx 7000 with remote control.Web,FTP and telnet are disabled.
Any help to make it functional will be greately appreciated.

Not to be funny but are the batteries good? I do alot of AV stuff and get lower battery probs frequently.

And do u remember to plug S-Video cable of the display screen to the main video output port, not the VCR/DVD or 2nd video output?
