Hi All,

Sorry for the first post being here. I could use some help.

I have a job interview on Friday and upon confirming the time & date, I was told (as the job is in a different country) that the interview will be conducted over a Video Conference.

Now, upon enquiring to the recruitment agent who I was talking to, trying to get more details, all she said was "I am not technical, all I have been told is must be IP and H.264"

Now that could mean a lot of things and until I hear more information back and doing some browsing I am in a blind panic as all I have come across are multi $$$$ solutions and nothing in particular.

Could someone has a guess at what she could mean, and more importantly HOW I COULD CONNECT to this?

Could it be something as simple as say, getting a piece of software that supports H.264 and connecting to the IP of some box they have at their end?

HI Stoobert

IP means that the system to connect to must be connected to the internet. H264 is the most recent video protocol, though I find it strange that someone would stipluate that.

you could do worse than downloading the trial version of Polycom PVX.

or you could always get your interviewer to cover the cost of renting a room...

Hi, I got the IP and H.264 being the connectivity type and CODEC but that is all I know... Nothing about connectivity or the such.

Anyway, thanks for the help, but the interviewer has decided that to make things simple, they will use Skype with HQ video... Better than nothing I suppose :)

If a company wants you to interview via videoconferencing then that company or your recruiter should make the necessary resources available to you. Unless, of course, you represent a company who want to sell your services as a videoconferencing services provider, which from the tone of your message I gather that you are not.

Good luck with the interview!

Regards,

Wes
