I have TMS pointing to a sbcglobal mail account to send alerts (its not on the network with the exchange servers). this worked for a pretty good while, then just suddenly stopped. I tried a different smtp mail account to see if it was maybe something on yahoo's side but still no mail going out. when i go to mail settings and it says itll send a test mail, nothing ever happens. anyone have any ideas? i'm running 12.0. TIA

i ran a packet sniffer and found the problem:

response: 553 sorry, that domain isnt allowed to be relayed thru this MTA.

did a little searching and spoke with the host company and determined they have it locked down, so that you have to log in pop3 first prior to logging in smtp as a spam fighting measure. i spoke with TAC and there is no way around this at this time. they handed it over to R&D so it may be cured in future releases.

does anyone do email alerts via smtp? im looking for another one i can use that wont have this problem......
