sorry if this a realy basic question, but i want a step by step on how to connect a polycom viewstation to make video conference over ip.
eg a hotel has a wall socket connection .what info do i need from hotel to set up the video conference unit

In a hotel? You will need lots of prayers and miracles. They normally have really flakey bandwidth and most likely do not have the ports open required for h.323 calling.

You'll need internet access from your hotel LAN folks. If they have a DHCP server, you can let the Polycom retrieve an IP address from the server. That should be pretty much all you need unless the hotel has a firewall that is blocking access. You may be able to dial out over the internet but not receive a call. Polycom web site has test IP addresses that you can call for test calls to see if the connectivity is there leaving the hotel.

tell me about it ...i nearly spent 2 hours the other day ...they hire the room out to clients and they have never used vc over ip. in the room
i get there and it is all expected to work...:ogre:....wheres the socket then?
