I can place a call using H.261 :)
This beast will take a while to get used too... but then I said the same about MXP when it was new :)

I don't think so... they are impressive... but you can see that it is a new product... I guess it will take som software updates (this one is still labeled beta!) until it's as easy to use as a MXP for example.
Maybe they have left things out from the BETA version on purpose. For example the only thing you can do from the web-if is look at the xml files and upload new software. I guess this will change :)
I do not like that TANDBERG choose to remove all text from the remote-control and just have icons, and also the colourful buttons are gone, all buttons are now grey.
It was so easy to tell people just to click on the yellow button to unmute... Now we are back to the old classic version; "Press the button with a crossed over michrophone icon"... and see people look for something they belive is a michrophone, I guess people will go for the zoom button (wich has an icon that looks alot more like a michrophone then the mic off button on the new remote IMHO :)
But I guess the C90 has potential. The specs of it is phenomenal, the UI is not :)

Any chance of posting some photos of the unit and the remotes Robert?
Just for those of us who're curious

Ofcourse :)
The C90 codec is available from TANDBERGs website, but I could not find the remote, so i scanned it together with MXP remote:

Oh dear, what have they done! :paranoid:
I see what you mean about the confusing icons and the lack of colour. It's definitely going to more difficult to talk folks through muting the mic, switching between main can and presentation etc.
I'm sure there's also a good reason for moving the positions of some of the buttons, eg swapping the phone book and cancel buttons, but again, that's going to confuse a lot of end users who're already familiar with the standard MXP remotes.
I take it the top 5 buttons are the equivalent of soft-keys on a mobile phone, ie they allow access to context sensitive on-screen menus?
I realised just after my original posting that pics of the codec were already on the Tandberg website, but like you, I couldn't find any of the remote, or any user/admin guides for the new codecs.
Given that we're unlikely to be seeing any of the new kit for some time I was rather disappointed by that.

Yes the five buttons on top are used to control on-screen menues, not that bright solution IMHO. It's not that much of a problem with the phonebook, C and HOME keys, you get used to it.
I guess you will soon have the pleasure to play with the new TANDBERGs... then you can make your own judgement of the look and feel of the UI. I only hope that it will improve when it's not a beta anymore... but I guess the remote control will remain as it is.
I guess TANDBERG didn't put as much energy on iomprooving the remote as they did when they made the remot for the MXP, because that one is brilliant!

I take it your intergrating the C90's into a AV room?** What do those units run loaded up?* $40k a piece?

Hmmm... I'm not seeing any Near/Far button(s). Do the buttons on top help facilitate that?
One of the biggest problems our users have with the MXP remotes is using Far-end camera control. Almost all of them started out with the Polycom remotes and the MXP remotes felt like a step backwards. Current MXP software requires 9 button clicks to get to a fairly confusing Near/Far camera control. Tandberg made an optional remote available for purchase, so there must have been others with the same complaint. Even the Classic remote has a Near/far button on it.
Maybe the thought was that control systems would be the primary input into the CODEC instead of the remote itself.
The C90 specs look impressive, let us know how it works.

The C-90 as I have it now is not even close to the feature-set and userfriendliness as the MXP, the horsepower in it is impressive though.
The "NEW" TRC4 MXP remote is quite good, and has a ner/far end button :)
THe C-90 remote use the menu-system for that and NOT even the quick-keys :(

Does it really do 1080p @ 60 frames per second?
I'm skeptical.
How much bandwidth is required?

I couldn't find any of the remote, or any user/admin guides for the new codecs.
Once the product ships (soon) there will be more materials available on the web.

But will it still have that nearly monochromatic remote?

There are no major changes planned for the remote at this time.
