This isn't a huge problem, but sometimes I've noticed a very low-level soft, "white noise" begin to build in my headphones when the 20 students in my class sit very quietly as they listen to the loudspeaker from the far end. Then I tap on my desk; VOILA! The Tandberg ceiling mics hear my tap and the "soft white noise" goes away. A few moments later, the room is quiet again and the soft white noise begins to build. Is this the automatic gain control (AGC) trying to "listen" for a locally-produced sound? That's the impression I get. Anybody else run into this? Is there a way around it?

Check the level settings in your Main Menu, Audio Settings, Input. Adjust them as needed or set them to factory default if you wish to baseline your audio settings.

I lowered the ceiling mic settings in the menu and I'll see how it works tomorrow. They were at 12dB and now they're at 10dB. Thanks for the suggestion; that might be the issue. I'll report back.

Also, I noticed there's an option to enable AGC for *incoming* audio. I wonder if I should enable that. It's not explained in the manual.

You were right. It *was* the level settings. As it turns out, the correct setting for the Audio-Technica AT-861PZ (AT861PZ) capsuled "AudioScience" mics is 3 dB. (The "Crown" PZM-6D capsuled "AudioScience" mics need a 19.5 dB setting). Tandberg has never updated the Tandberg 6000 Classic online manual to include this key information, which is found on page 174 of the more recent Tandberg 6000 MXP codec model manual. We're keeping the AGC for "received" audio OFF.

I'll keep an eye on it and see how it goes from here. Hey, Thanks!
