Hi All,
We are looking at upgrading from TMS 11.9 to version 12 as it supports Exchange 2007 integration and eventuallly OCS.
Has anybody tried it? Are there any gotchas that I need to be aware of?
In the release notes for TMS 12 it says "For
more information on the TANDBERG Conferencing eXtensions for Microsoft Exchange, please see the
release notes and installation manual for the TCX product."
I am struggling to find the documentation on this can anybody point me in the right direction.
Thank you

Hi Aldo456321
I'm not trying to scare you here, but we tried the upgrade from TMS 11.9.1 to 12 (without the added complexity of OCS etc) and have had huge problems with it, so much so that we had to downgrade again or face losing years of call records etc.
Everything appeared to go fine, in that no errors were reported during the upgrade process, but as soon as we tried to access TMS from our web browsers we received an error screen which seemed to point to .NET 3.5 being the issue.
Although it is suggested in the notes, I cannot recommend strongly enough that you take a backup prior to your upgrade and make sure it is valid should you need to revert to 11.9.1.
We've been trying to work with our reseller and Tandberg to find a resolution to this issue, but after well over a month we still don't have a satisfactory resolution and are still running 11.9.1.
One of the reasons we've been given for the lack of support we've received over this issue is that TMS was not running on a dedicated server, even although it had been running fine on that server for years at various iterations of TMS 11.
All I can say other than that is, good luck!

If .NET 3.5 is installed properly, we haven't seen any issues here at TANDBERG that I am aware of.
Best bet is to continue to work with your support reps to get to the bottom of the issue.

I have done a successful upgrade from TMS 11.9.1 to 12.0 without issues. Given you are not running a mixture of different .Net version in different web-applications the install should be ok.
Check list of discontinued products;
Windows Server 2000 - no longer supported. If you need to install a new OS or server, stay clear of 64-bit OS's. They are not supported by TMS (and I could not find it being stated in the manual)
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or MSDE database that originally shipped with older versions of TMS. To identify the version you are running, execute osql -E -q"SELECT @@VERSION" on the command line on the server running the database. If it responds versons starting with 2000. or 8.. you need to upgrade the database server.
Always create a full backup of the server and database before upgrading. Things may go wrong and it is better to have peace of mind than spending the complete weekend trying to rebuild a TMS server.

Hi Sean
As I say we certainly didn't receive any error messages during the install of either TMS itself or .NET 3.5, so it's rather hard to tell if the installs failed.
Unfortunately our support reps have closed the call, as Tandberg were unable to come up with a suitable solution, other than installing TMS 11.9.1 on a fresh server and then doing the upgrade. I'm afraid isn't an option for us at this time...
We've also been told that the TMS application and the database should be running on separate servers given that we have over 50 units on it.
This seems a little excessive, when TMS has been running fine on a 3GHz Xeon with 1GB RAM for some time even with around 100 endopoints.

Thank you for your comments guys.
I am not too worried about the upgrade, we only have 12 endpoints and our database is small.
I am really interested to hear any Exchange 2007 integration stories, I cant find much information on the web about it, has anybody tried it?
Thanks again as always.

We did the upgrade from 9.1 to 12 and ran into db issues.
Ours was with the sql accounts permissions and db owner permissions on the db, but this was working fine before the upgrade. Was weird.
TMS install logs very helpful though
