What's the deal? I can't find many H.323 compliant conferencing programs for 'average users'.

You see, I own a groovy PolyCom Viewstation H.323 (IP), but nobody else does. I was hoping there would be a free program out there that would allow 'web-cam' users to use H.323 protocol. Of course MS Net meeting does fine. It connects to the PolyCom viewstation just fine. Performance is good.

But what about other platforms? MacOS -has no H.323 compliant conference program. Niether does Linux.

Does anyone know of free, (or cheap) H.323 compliant programs for MacOS or Linux ? It's a mixed platform environment out there.

nstcadmin,
Its always been that way out there. Ever since I was at PictureTel and we would do bakeoffs between the PictureTel Live, the ATT Vistium and the Intel unit, people were asking for mac based clients and we did not have an answer. I remember seeing one at a tradeshow, but it has disappeared. Can anybody out there help?

The Mac client was called Video Link Pro, unfortunately it appears to be limited to OS 9 and was not free. Check out:

On the Windows side I would recommend you check out the products from VCON and Radvision

You might want to take a look at http://www.openh323.org. It's an open source H.323 client, MCU, GW, GK, etc... I've been playing with the Client for windows and it seems to work fairly well. and it's open source so if you don't like something, FIX IT! Also, there is a Linux version so... It's worth a look for the price...
