Hi all,

I am a financial analyst and I am currently working on Tandberg. I was wondering if you might be able to help me out a bit.

Would you be kind enough to explain to me what the differences in product offering/quality between Tandberg and Polycom for instance are - without getting in too much technical details?
Are Tandberg's products easier to operate, more reliable, are image and sound better ?

What I'm asking basically is what makes Tandberg the best ? (I'm saying the best because it's what I seem to understand from this forum and other websites.)
Is their competitive advantage sustainable ?

Do you think that in the mid-term (5-8 years), every computer will be able to provide video conference services ? With webcams getting better and better and broadband internet access spreading, what is the future of the industry ?

Those questions might seem very basic :paranoid: and I apologize for that. But as stated above, I'm not a VTC professional - I am merely trying to understand what drives the industry.

Thanks a lot for your help !
Kind regards.

Yann :cheeky:

Anyone that can answer some of these questions?

I am writing a master thesis about video conferencing, and I have the same questions.

Thanks in advance for qualified replies.

Anyway, as I understand there is a big difference between conventional videoconferencing and telepresence. I assume in the future the difference will materialize more than today. Competition in personal VC between vendors will accelerate. Telepresence will be dominated by Cisco/Tandberg and Polycom - because of big spendings in R&D. Do you agree?
