I have tried the Tandberg 1000 and I am awaiting delivery of the Polycom VSX 3000. Has anyone had the opportunity to try the VSX 3000? Has anyone tried both models and can give me heads up on what I should look out for?

I have tested the VSX3000. The product is very well designed and fits right in the the VSX line.

We just ordered one last week, and I will have to become familiar with it for a demo next week. It should arrive any day now. I will try to put together a review.

Well that sucks about the back orders. I'm looking to talk to Polycom today about getting an eval but since mine is for gov I may be able to get it a little sooner because they ahve a different division that handles gov stuff so maybe  they have less back order.

I think it came in today, but I was in the field. I should be in the office tomorrow, and will start to "cook" it right away.

I understand the V500 is available and shipping from Polycom to their distributors. Turn around on new orders is in the 2 week period. The VSX3000 seem to be taking 3-4 weeks to be fulfilled though a number of distributors have stocking orders in place and should receive product shortly.

We have VSX 7000 ....
I have seen the demo in Dubai as well. The performance seems to be ok in ideal conditions.. WE have the vsx7000 demounits here in our office and I have yesterday setit up for the ISDN calls. The ISDN quality ws not good so the unit took some time to complete sessions.
so far the performance is accpetable in 1 & 2 ISDN with 2 x 64 , 128 ...

The V500 is shipping in North America at this point. I believe that Polycom has to get all the "certifications" completed before they can sell it in Europe. I do not have a time frame for that to be completed.

My 3000 is still not here!!! I know it's the shipping company. They are always against me. Anyway, I am giving a demo tomorrow of the VSX7000 and someone from Polycom will be joining us to show off the 3000. I will try to put together a "first impression" review tomorrow night, and will get more in depth when I get mine. Anyone have any questions you want me to pass on while I have the Polycom guy locked down?

The VSX3000 is a very nice product. There are how ever as with any product out there some flaws.
• You can’t have a computer image up and use video.
• If you are on computer input and receive a call it will not auto switch to the video input.
• No VCFX
• No DVI input
There are way more pluses to this product than negatives. I feel this product is well worth the prices (I know it’s steep) but just the availability to configure/lock it down and provision it like a room station is worth the price.

Ok, got my first look at the VSX3000 last week. Here are my impressions:
It's a slick looking piece. It'd definitely look good on my desk (or anybody elses for that matter)!
Menu is typical VSX - easy to use, easy to navigate, pleasing to the eye. My only gripe is I'd like a 'System' button on the remote!
MCU support (optional) supports Continuous Presence as well as Voice-Activated. (My VSX7000 with 5.1.1.1.b software does not - Voice-Activated only!)
Camera is not motorized. This might be apparent from the pictures but I know I'll have customer's asking me about this.
Picture quality was not as good as I expected. This may be due to the LCD...don't really know.
Finally, and I mention this because I anticipate many calls about this, the VGA port on the back, while slick, is virtually useless during an actual video conference. The port is only for the monitor, not the codec! Do not buy or sell a VSX3000 expecting to do People +Content out of the box. In fact, because there is no mic connection, you cannot even connect a Visual Concert. The only way to incorporate a PC signal is via Web Office (or so the Polycom guy told me) or via scan converter connected to the single composite input.
And that's about it....

It is my understanding that the plan (boy, did I leave enough room for wiggling out of this!) is a future release of the software will allow for Visual Concert type operation of the XGA port.

I am running the VSX 7000 with multi site configuration here in Pakistan .
Had some problems initially but that was part of the network.
SO far teh performance is great with H.264 and SIren 14 voice quality.
Keeping my finger cross.
Let me know some one using the Video Conference.
I would love to talk on VC.

We were thinking of both the 3000 and 7000 but they are environment specific..offices. Whereby they each have their place,,I have a hard time deciding on the implementation of the 7000, when, by the time you put the goodies on it that are basic to the FX..iy costs more and still is limited. in working with Polycom, I understand they introduced the 7000 as their first step in the avenue they want to go down in the long run...sort of like the "beta model" of the future for all their endpoints...testing the market and rivaling Tannburg..even now they are already coming up with the next rev of software to give it CP...guess they got a lot complaints...but if you think about it....
The FX is their "meat and potatoes". There are so many of them out ther...we use them and VS4000's....3 yrs ago..I started off with them for the "big rooms" and 512's for the smaller rooms....but soon had to trade them up to FX's because my salesperson was wrong in that the 512 was not full duplex and never would be. i bet Polycom got a lot the 512's back and that is where the 7000's were born.
I get refurbished FX's for less than the 7000 price with service. Speaking of service..add that to the bill (in order to get sftwre) and the fact that Polycom canot discount the 7000's like the other stuff... and if you can forego the single speaker system of "siren 14" on the 7000....what is to make me start looking at other stuff? The FX's will be around for a long time.
I also caught wind of new "integration" system they are coming out with this summer ..selling it on the same platform as they are doing with their "bundles" now. I am hoping to get a pre-product intro to this in the next couple weeks.
