The Original Swiftsite (with only one ISDN port) has a harddisk, sometimes it carshes...

When you start the SwiftSite, the camera mooves and then you hear some warning-beeps and then nothing more happens.

I would concider that Swiftsite as dead.

Otherwise you have to send the complete unit to Polycom for repair, if they accept it anymore.

Excuse my cynicism, but I think you should consider this a blessing rather than a curse. You'll probably find it cheaper to source a second hand Viewstation than pay for a repair...

If, for some reason, you absolutely have to repair that SSI, then I would take a look at ebay. I often seem them out there for very little money.

Good Luck,

Replace it with a V500 - less than 2K :D.

I still got a SwiftSite, but I am thinking about doing the above before mine dies....

If this is a swiftsiteI (without the LAN port) model then it has the Harddisk which has the problem. If you can open the system and tap the harddisk the system may start work .I have done this in my system and it still works. In the mean time i have got a laptop harddisk and used the norton ghost to make a standby.

What Ramesh is suggesting is that you clone the faulty harddisk.
Som times when a harddisk goes bat it is possible to clone the data on it over to another disk (could take a few tried and you may need to tap on it to get it to work)

What you do is you take the hard disk out of the swiftside unit and buy a new hard disk, try to get a disk that is the same size or as close as possible and older models will probly work better.

Then you place both disk in normal PC computer and make sure the BIOS detects both disk.

Next you clone all the info on the old disk over to the new disk with a program like "Norton Ghost" or "PQ Drive Image"

Then you put the new disk into the Swiftsite

But this is probly to much work for and old swiftsite and there is no guranty it will work. So buying a new unit thats is up to date is probly best.
