Does anyone know how I can look up the MAC address for the VS4000? In all the screens for setup/admin I cannot find the MAC address. Any help will be appreciated.

IF you are local to the machine and the web interface is turned on, just open a browser to the system and then open a dos window and type "arp -a". Unless you have a router blocking the mac address, it should show up.

You will see it on the screen Setup/Hardware.

A quicker method if you are not in the same room is as follows
Ping the units IP address from a windows PC
then type arp -a <units IP address>
you will get its mac address back
Hope this helps

As well as the system displaying the MAC address itself and finding it using the arp -a generally most ViewStation MAC addresses are as the following formatt.
"00.E0.DB.12.34.56" where 123456 are the systems six digit serial number

One of the Viewstations that I was using did not boot and I tried the soft boot using the blac k button near the camera. Even that did not work. Is there any other way to get it up and running.
Narayanan,
Not sure if you meant to put this post within the how to find MAC address of VS4000 but here is something you can try with your ViewStation:
Erase the flash memory and re-load software, this can be done providing that you can either FTP into the system or get the system to the update boot screen.
(Careful when doing this as if done incorrectly you could damage the ViewStation)!!
FTP into the ViewStation using control panel/DOS prompt. Enter the following commands at the prompt (>):
>ftp 1.1.1.2 (or IP Address of the ViewStation)
Connected to 1.1.1.2
220 FTP Server, type 'quote help' for help
User (1.1.1.3):(none)): admin
331 User name okay, need password.
Password: (if you have an administrative password on the unit, enter it here, otherwise, just press <ENTER>)
230 User logged in, proceed.
ftp> quote swus
ftp> bin
ftp> quote boot
This will reboot the system and it should come up to the software update screen. Once here we can now erase the flash.
Ftp into the system again then enter the following commands at the ftp prompt:
ftp> get allflashmem
ftp> quote bin
ftp> quote unlock
ftp> quote erfl
After the the system finishes reformatting the flash memory:
ftp> quote boot
After the ViewStation reboots, run ViewStation softupdate.exe again to push new software onto the ViewStation.
