Default C90 API Audio Monitor help

Hi-

I am looking for a way to monitor audio from a C90. Here is the thing- I am not near the unit, and I cannot dial into the unit when its in a call. I dont need to hear the audio specifically, I would be happy with some way to visually confirm that audio was coming into the device.
API VU Meter, or something via SSH. I know its an odd request, but we are trying to monitor many systems at once and I have not found a solution yet.

Any help appreciated!

Thanks
Dan

Not an unusual request really. Short version: login as admin over ssh and type "xstatus diagnostics" whilst the call is up.

Longer version: have a look at the API guide at

THanks Giles. I tested that command and it outputs quite a bit of info. I was looking for something that runs constantly once the command is given, so we can just leave the SSH window up and ensure that audio is coming in (or out on line out).

Hi,
you can use the VUMeter commands to achieve this:

xCommand Audio Vumeter Start
ConnectorType(r): <HDMI/Line/Microphone>
ConnectorId(r): <1..8>

First you need to register to Audio events like this:

Code:
xfeedback register Event/Audio
Then start VUMeter on an Audio Input like this:

Code:
xcommand Audio Vumeter Start ConnectorType: Microphone ConnectorId:1
To stop the VUMeter issue:
Code:
xcommand audio vumeter stopAll

Cheers,
David (Cisco)

Thanks David, this is terrific. This will suit our needs until they add VU meters to the web interface.

One question- Do you see any issue to leave this running for the duration of a call? Would it eat too much processor time? Is there a way to check the processor usage to be sure?

In a p2p call it shouldn't be a problem. However in a multisite call with 3 participants with presentation and playing around in OSD while running VUMeter on all audio inputs may not be recommended.

If I were you I'd just enable it on demand and not having it running all the time. It can be pretty CPU intensive. There is no API way of seeing the load.

I'll make a note of the request to have an activity-indication on the microphone(s) on the web pages (both API and web are my responsibilities on the Codecs)

Regards,
David
